Working during covid means accepting you will always be short handed and over worked, but we were tired before so now do you ever just wanna NOPE!
Get up for work… NOPE!
Get outta bed and feed the kids…NOPE!
Shower for the first time in three days and actually out in something other than sweats…STILL NOPE!
Today was one of those days, it took every single ounce of drive to get me out of bed for work this morning. This week we are half the staff of normal but not work load because you still gotta make money. All day on my feet was gonna be hard enough but it was a full moon for patients.
My first patient wanted a refund for having pain the day after having full mouth extractions! Just so I’m clear, that should hurt. It was like talking to a toddler. The day was crazy busy and no lunch break so it was one of the drive home 45 minutes in the silence kinda days.
I always call home as I get close to coordinate meeting downstairs to walk the dogs, this time though you could hear every word the kids were screaming and…NOPE. I pulled my car over and just sat there.
At first I felt guilty because my poor wife at home dealing with it but after a minute I realized we gotta take breaks were we can get them these days! Covid is enough for anyone but a parent? A healthcare worker? It’s too much, so breathe. Pull over. Take the long shower. And NOPE the hell outta that day if you need.
